Two airlifted following one-vehicle accident |

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies are currently investigating a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Creamery Road south of Morrison at approximately 6:10 p.m. Monday evening July 26, 2004. A vehicle driven by Zachary J. Dunaway of Morrison lost control on the gravel road, went out of control, slid off the road into a ditch and struck a tree broadside. Dunaway along with four passengers in the vehicle, Jered Cross, 14, Michael Stansifer, 14, and Steven Rice, 17, all of Morrison, and Cendra K. Engelkens, 16 of Sterling were transported to Morrison Community Hospital by Morrison and Prophetstown ambulances. Rice and Cross were later airlifted to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford by Lifeline Helicopter. Stansifer was admitted to Morrison Hospital where he was released Tuesday morning and Dunaway and Engelkens were treated and released. According to St. Anthony's medical personal Cross is listed in good condition in the pediatric unit and Rice is in the neuro-intensive care unit listed in serious condition.
