Timber Lake Playhouse presents Hair

Timber Lake Playhouse and Artistic Director Brad Lyons announce the opening of the celebrated rock musical Hair. This moving story of the war-torn 1960’s will run in Mt. Carroll now through July 11th.

Hair is the story of a tribe of hippies and flower children, brought together by the cross-culture revolution of their generation and their individual destinies. Featuring a true rock and roll score with such hits as “Let the Sunshine In” and "The Age of Aquarius”, Hair exploded onto the American cultural radar just as the events of the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights movement were reaching a boiling point in 1967. The stage show was made into a successful movie and its message of peace is particularly resonant today.

Timer Lake is thrilled to present this landmark musical in conjunction with many theatres worldwide, all of whom are making an effort to bring attention to many of the world’s current crises. Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, this movement promises to increase awareness of world events and reflect on the calamities of war.

Hair will be presented as a multimedia event, with projections of the events of the 1960’s serving as a backdrop for the action of the play. Funny, shocking and often heart breaking, Hair is truly a once-in-lifetime experience.

The team behind such TLP as Footloose, Fame, and Grease is reunited once again to create this emotional show. Artistic Director Brad Lyons takes the helm as director and, fresh from his successful stint as director of Cats, James Beudry returns as Choreographer for Hair. This ensemble show will feature the talents of Jeff Ashworth, Kyle Post, and Maurice Murphy, who recently graced the TLP stage in Cats as The Rum Tum Tugger, Skimleshanks, and Old Deuteronomy, respectively. Returning for one production only this summer is TLP favorite Priscilla Parchia, star of such hits as Fame, State Fair, and Footloose. Newcomer Natalie Perkins of Indianapolis, IN, will also be featured. The amazingly talented Resident Acting Company, fresh from their amazing debut in Cats, will once again be allowed to prove their strong vocal and dancing finesse.

Hair runs now through July 11th. Performance times are Wednesday through Saturdays at 8:00 pm with 2:00 matinees on Sundays, July 4 and 11, and Wednesday, July 7. There is also an early evening performance at 7:30 pm on July 6. There will be no evening performance on July 4.

Adult tickets are just $15, while student tickets are an unbeatable $8. Due to the subject matter in this production, viewer discretion is advised.
