Curves joins Morrison Chamber


Official ribbon cutting

The Morrison Chamber of Commerce welcomed Curves, Morrison’s newest business to the community on June 30, 2004 with an official ribbon cutting. Curves is located at 633 East Lincolnway, Morrison, next to Movie Magic.

Those present for the official ribbon cutting were Bob Vaughn, Chamber President, Sheila VenHuizen, Fitness Trainer, Cara Kaufman, Fitness Trainer, Bev Smith, owner, Lynne Kallenbach, manager, RoAnn Porter, chamber executive secretary and Jason Wheat, chamber board of directors member.

Curves is a fitness center, which works every major muscle in the body. Sixteen stations are set up with different workout machines. Every 30 seconds you move on to the next machine until you have completed the circuit three times. It is recommended to accomplish the 30-minute workout at least three times a week if possible.

Once a month weigh-ins and measurements are done and put into a computer so that members can see their progress.

Bev Smith, the owner of Curves is from Thomson. She also owns Curves in Savanna and Fulton. She stated that there are 10,000 Curve facilities in the United States.

Curves hours are Monday and Wednesday 5:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursdays from 5:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.; Fridays 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday 7-11 a.m. The phone number is (815) 772-8500.
