Advantage One Credit Union held its Open House on Saturday, June 12, 2004, in their new location at 204 N. Jackson Street. Approximately 150 people attended the open house.
Employees of the Credit Union conducted tours of the new building and offices and the Morrison Police Department was available to finger print children.
The Credit Union was established in 1960 as the Morrison General Electric Employees Federal Credit Union inside the G.E. plant on Wall Street, Morrison. The founder who was William Brady had a vision of a financial cooperative providing financial services to the employees and families of the General Electric Company. The credit union moved to a new building in the early 1970’s to 207 Larch Street, where it remained until February 16, 2004.
The charter was changed to a state charter in 1998 and to a community charter at that same time. This has allowed them to take in members from the community and their family members.
Their growth has been significant over the last few years and has allowed them to become a full-service financial institution. This growth allowed them to be in the need of a larger building. On February 13, 2004, the credit union posted their last transaction in the Larch Street credit union building. The move to Jackson Street was accomplished and they opened on February 16.
Today the credit union offers many more services than when Mr. Brady discovered his vision in 1960. They now offer a variety of financial products to meet the needs of the members and their families. They also offer these same services to small businesses at no cost or low-cost, the same as for any member of the Advantage One Credit Union.
