On 6/01/04, the Morrison Police Department inadvertently issued a news release stating that Jared W. Farthing had been arrested on a Whiteside County arrest warrant for failure to pay child support. The name of the individual arrested should have been listed as Kenneth Farthing, age 25, of Rockford. As previously stated, Farthing is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Morrison Police Department regrets the error. On 6/01/04, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Morrison Police charged two juveniles, ages 13 and 15, with criminal trespass to land and obstructing a police officer. The juveniles were charged after police arrived at the properties of the Farmer’s Elevator and the Union Pacific Railroad in response to suspicious persons in the area. After police arrived, the juveniles fled on foot. The 15-year-old juvenile was apprehended by police several minutes after responding to the scene. The 13-year-old juvenile was subsequently brought in by a parent. Both juveniles were subsequently released to the custody of a parent. The case has been referred to the Whiteside County State’s Attorney’s Office for disposition. On 6/05/04, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Morrison Police arrested Adrian M. Lopez, 20, Sterling, for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and improper lane usage. Lopez was arrested after finding Lopez’s vehicle stuck in an embankment on Hillandale Drive. Lopez was subsequently transported to the Whiteside County Law Enforcement Center where he was later released on a notice to appear in court. Lopez is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. On 6/05/04, at approximately 6:40 p.m. Morrison Police arrested Gregory A. Tuntland, 55, Chicago, for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and improper lane usage. Tuntland was arrested at the intersection of Knox and Orange Streets after police received a motorist report that Tuntland was driving erratically. Tuntland was subsequently transported to the Whiteside County Law Enforcement Center where he was later released on a notice to appear in court.
