Morrison's Heritage Museum Extends Hours For Memorial Day |
|
| Morrison’s Heritage Museum will be open Monday, May 31, immediately after the Memorial Day program at Grove Hill Cemetery until 4:00, in order to accommodate the extended weekend schedule of our residents, visitors, and area tourists. Regular museum hours are Fridays through Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00. The Morrison Historical Society recently completed a comprehensive decorating project. The appearance was dramatically improved in the Hearth Room, at the north end of the upper floor, and the entry at the south. The walls and ceilings were covered with drywall to alleviate a chronic problem of peeling paint. Fresh, ivory paint covers this solid foundation. The final decorating touch included carpet to match the downstairs display area. Our first program of the new season will honor veterans of World War II and recognize the 60 th. anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy. It will be held Sunday, June 6, beginning at 2:00. The Morrison Historical Society wishes to extend a special invitation to all World War II veterans to attend this presentation by five local veterans. Each speaker will share his most memorable aspect of military service; audience participation will follow. Refreshments will be served. Come see our remodeling efforts and new exhibits! You will be proud of your local museum. If you know a military veteran, invite him or her to attend our special program on Sunday, June 6. by Stephanie A. Vavra, Guest Columnist |
