Last fall Cottonwood 4-H Club in Morrison toured WHOA at Kay Richmond’s Farm. When the members planned their year they decided making a donation to the horse therapeutic farm be included. So in March the club decided to donate money to WHOA during their family fun activity at Hilltop Lanes. The families donated $50 but the kids said they wanted to take some out of their treasury to make the donation $101.
Jean Luett, an 8-year volunteer and current instructor, and Ethel Ryan, a board member, accepted the check from club treasurer, John Benson, and club secretary, Kayla Venhuizen on Tuesday, May 11. Kayla also volunteers at WHOA in her spare time.
They recently moved to the fairgrounds to store their horses, use the infield to let them run, and instruct handicapped persons in horse riding. Horse-cart riding is something new this year for the organization. “Donations are always needed,” added Luett.
Cottonwood 4-H Club also made a donation to Happy Tails Animal Shelter in Sterling.
