I love Spring! |
| Spring is just flying by in Morrison. Before we know it summer will be here. I’ve heard a lot of comments that many are enjoying the photos of flowers and bushes I have been displaying. Every year I love to go out in the yard and take photos as the yard comes to life. It’s so nice to actually share them. I can’t believe how I look out and every day something new is blooming, leafing, or sprouting. The rains are really needed and will make gardening easier. I was out pulling weeds, mini trees, and deadheading last weekend. My rosebushes have been pruned and I’m ready to get my hands dirty with plants from K & R. I think I’m going pink this year. Every year I try to have a color theme. Last year I was feeling patriotic and planted red, white, and blue. This year I’m not as patriotic and the pink prom dresses inspire me to go pink. I put three large planters on my front porch steps last year. I started with geraniums that bloomed right away. Then the impatients took off and filled the pots. We also picked up an old wheel barrel at the Thomson flea market and filled it with impatients. Several years ago on a trip to Alaska we noted how they recycled anything steel into planters and have tried to copy that philosophy. We have an old pig oiler I fill with pansies and several John Deere planters filled with petunias. My favorite spring bush is the lilac. I would hate it if I were allergic to lilacs because I love the smell. I remember when I was pregnant with my son and couldn’t get out much, my mother filled the house with fresh cut lilacs and they made the house smell so good. We have about four different colors of lilacs. I love spring! by Barb Benson, theCity1.com |
