The Cottonwood 4-H Club met on April 10, 2004, at Resthave Nursing Home. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Jason Wright. There were no guests present. Kayla Venhuizen read the minutes. Brad Benson read the treasurer’s report.
Last month at the cosmic bowling party, the club raised $72 for the W.H.O.A. This month we voted to raise the donation to $101. The club will be making up the difference. We also voted on donating two tricycles to the Morrison Day Care Center. The Riggen family agreed to head the project. The club was asked to hand out water for the Whiteside County Soil & Water Conservation 5K run/walk. It was approved and a sign up sheet was passed around for willing volunteers. Barb Benson talked about 4-H softball. The club still needs more 4-Her’s to sign up for the junior team (8th grade and younger).
Talks and Demos were given by Jason Wright on photographing lightening and fireworks, Hallah Dalati talked about fish painting on a T-shirt, Sammy Dalati showed how to make a terrarium, and Kira Riggen talked about her pigeons. The meeting was adjourned with the 4-H pledge led by Nathan Hinrichs.
Refreshments were served by Adam & Andrew Cook, J.J. Thorndike, and Nolan & Nathan Hinrichs. After the meeting club members showed their pets to the residents. Those who participated were Kayla & Sarah Venhuizen, Brad Benson, Kira & Emily Riggen, J.J. Thorndike, and Jason & Nicole Wright.
The club’s next meeting will be May 8, 2004, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at 9:00 A.M. We will be visiting the Workman alpaca farm.
