Juniors to take ACT/PSAE tests |
| All juniors attending Illinois public schools will take the ACT/PSAE exams on Wednesday and Thursday April 28th and 29th. MHS students will be bussed from the high school to St. Peters Church on both of these days for testing. They will return Wednesday in time for 2nd lunch in the school cafeteria. Lunch will be provided at the church on Thursday. The ACT day 1 test is a college entrance exam made up of 4 sub-tests - English, math, reading, and science reasoning. The day 2 portion is made up of 5 tests, including a writing sample. Students have already received their personal copy of practice study tests for preparation. Parents and students have the option of placing the ACT scores on the permanent transcript. The state of Illinois requires that the day 2 scores be included on student transcripts. Students should get adequate sleep the week of the tests and wear comfortable clothing on test days. It is best to dress in layers to adapt to changes in room temperature. Seniors will meet during homeroom Tuesday April 20th to complete a counselor's survey about students' post-secondary plans and to receive information regarding honors night and graduation. Parents of students who have failed classes may obtain information about summer school remedial courses from Mrs. Johannsen in the guidance office. by Patrice Johannsen, Guest Columnist |
