Heritage Canyon's Irish Tea |
|
|
The fourth in our series of Winter Teas will be an Irish Tea in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. It will be held on March 14th at 1:30pm in the Lower Parlor of the Wierenga House at Heritage Canyon, 515 North Fourth Street in Fulton, Illinois. Members of the Early American Crafters, the volunteer support group for the Canyon, will be presenting the program. It will include Irish Folklore, Crafts, Recipes and interesting Trivia. Learn about Leprechauns, Fairies, Banshees, and Shamrocks; what crafts and trades the Irish are famous for; how to make corned beef; and a variety of interesting and little known facts about the Irish in America. The refreshments for this Tea will be good hearty Irish fare and will include a variety of Scones, Irish Soda Bread, Irish Tea Cake, Barm Brack, and other traditional Irish foods. This is one Tea the whole family will enjoy. Notice that this tea is on a Sunday afternoon instead of the normal Saturday. The cost is a $10 donation for adults and $5 donation for children under 12, payable at the door, and includes the program, food and fun. The proceeds help to maintain Heritage Canyon, which is a non-profit, open air, historical museum village. These Teas are very popular and seating is limited so don’t wait; call Heritage Canyon at 815-580-2838 to reserve a place. Leave a message with your name, number in party and a phone number. by Editor, theCity1.com |
