Athletic Boosters donated $25,000

No one can say the Morrison Athletic Boosters aren’t working hard to raise the $50,000 they pledged to Morrison Unit #6 Schools for extracurricular activities. This small group of volunteers should be congratulated for the dedication they have to that goal but they still have work to do.

President Kay Smith declared they have met half their goal with donations totaling $25,000 just as the second half of the school year begins. The Calendar Cash Raffle has been a great success for the group as the drawings for winners continue.

The group solicited 350 recipes for a cookbook that should be printed and ready for sale by the end of March.

The next fundraiser will be a fun evening of cosmic bowling on Saturday, March 13 at Hilltop Lanes. Everyone is invited to attend and join the fun whether you bowl on a league or not.

March 27th the Boosters reserved “the corner” for a pork chop cookout. They have other fundraisers in the works to be announced. If you are interested in volunteering contact Kay Smith, Kevin Schisler, or any of the board members. Or attend one of their monthly meetings on the second Wednesday at MHS. The extracurricular activities they fund include all sports in the Junior High and High School along with band, chorus, and quiz bowl. Without the Boosters commitment none of these would be part of the 2003-04 school year.
