Sophomore girls lose to Bureau Valley |
| The Sophomores Fillies lost to Bureau Valley by one at the buzzer. The Fillies took off to a four point lead at the end of the first quarter, but Bureau Valley was able keep up with the girls and capitalize on a couple of Morrison’s turnovers down the stretch.
The first quarter Morrison was able to get a four point lead even though they only shot twenty-three percent from the field. Heather Andersen, Jodi Medendorp and Aimee Kyarsgaard all had one from the field. Andersen and Medendorp both went one for two from the line to give Morrison eight. In the second Morrison worked the ball well and kept the lead to three with Aimee Kyarsgaard, Katie Tenboer, Kelly Tenboer and Erica Sanchez combining for the scores. The third both teams matched up well. They went basket for basket with Morrison holding on to the three point lead. In the fourth Bureau Valley cut the lead to one with fifty-one seconds left. Morrison had possession until nineteen seconds left when a three point attempt was missed and Bureau Valley pulled in the rebound. Bureau Valley brought the ball down and missed a shot with three ticks left but pulled in the offensive rebound and shot. The basket scored as time ran out. Heather Andersen led Morrison with ten, three steals, four rebounds, two assists and went four for eight from the line. Kelly Tenboer had nine, one steal, four rebounds, and went three for five from the line. Katie Tenboer had six, two steals, and six rebounds. Jodi Medendorp had five, seven rebounds, and went three for six from the line. Aimee Kyarsgaard had four and four rebounds. Erica Sanchez had three of four from the line, three steels and two rebounds. Laura Stralow pulled in two rebounds. Lindsey Smith had two steels and one rebound.
