Storm Defeats Freshman Ponies

Bureau Valley was the destination for a freshman Pony basketball game on Saturday, December 6.

The local athletes played very well in the first quarter trailing 9-8 at its end. However, the second quarter proved to be their demise, as the Ponies went into the locker room at halftime trailing 31-16. In the second half, the Ponies could not mount a serious comeback, and the final score read, Bureau Valley 63 - Morrison 36. The opponent's pressure defense and poor field goal shooting (14-44) were some reasons for this outcome.

Trevor Popkin and Brian Oostenryk each scored ten points to lead the team. Popkin also pulled down ten rebounds in the contest.

The Freshman Pony team is now 1-1 on the season.
