Freshman Roundballers Roll Through Season Opener

The Morrison Freshman boys basketball team travelled to Fulton on December 1 to compete in their season opener against the traditional rival Fulton Steamers.

An intense Morrison defense led by Cris Scott, Rustin Lindsey, Nick Vandermyde, Brian Oostenrick, Trevor Popkin, and Shawn Vegter was the key to numerous turnovers and an early first quarter 18 to 3 run, a deficit that Fulton could never emerge from.

It was a pure team effort as all of Morrison's eleven members rounded out by Tyler VanZuiden, Daniel Deter, Charlie Cady, Dirk Meinsma, and Wade Miller contributed to the 45 to 27 win. Coaches Corey Ottens and Randy Stralow were pleased with the team's defensive efforts and found some postive lessons to build on for the next game against Bureau Valley on December 6.
