Golfers Take 6th in Regionals

On October 7th, the Mustang Golfers traveled to Deer Valley golf course to play the Rock Falls Regional Golf Tournament. The Team had high hopes of placing well and moving on the IHSA Sectional Tournament, but the course played very hard, making everyone do worse than expected, and leaving Morrison with 6th place by the end of the day.

It was a beautiful day for golf, but with everyone playing from the blue tees and the greens being very unforgiving, Everyone turned in higher scores than would be expected. Byron placed first, Rock Falls placed second, and Newman placed third.

The medalist for the tournament was from Byron and shot a 79. Morrison’s Joe Mills and Tim Houzenga both were able to make the individual Sectional cut, which was set at a 91. Joe Mills shot an 89 and Tim Houzenga shot a 91, just barely making the cut. They will play at Galena on October 14, and if they do well there, they can move on to the state tournament.

The girls golf team plays their regional tournament on Wednesday, October 8th. We wish the best of luck to Tim and Joe at Sectionals, and also to the girls’ golf team at their Regional, which is to be played at Byron.
