Morrison takes third at 9th Lorrin Fasset Classic |
| On Saturday, September 27, the Morrison varsity golf team hosted the 9th annual Lorrin Fasset Classic at Sunset Woods. 15 teams from around Northern Illinois came out on the brisk morning to play 18 holes of golf. The format was set up in teams of 2, playing a best-ball/scramble on the front nine, and an alternate shot on the back nine.
Around noon, foursomes started coming in with results, and by the time everyone had come in, Morrison found its 3 teams shooting very well, with Joe Mills and Tim Houzenga shooting a 75, Daniel Kaiser and Amber Heller shooting an 85, and Andrew Tenboer and Tyler Vanzuiden shooting an 84. When all the teams had been calculated, Morrison was in 3rd place in a large field of many larger schools. In addition to winning 3rd place overall, the team of Houzenga and Mills won 3rd place in individual scores. Team results were as follows: Galena in 1st with a 229, Erie in 2nd with a 240, Morrison in 3rd with a 244, and Rock Falls in 3rd with a 246. Teams that participated but didn’t place were: Amboy at a 254, Clinton at a 251, Fulton at a 269, Newman at a 258, Ohio at a 320, Pearl City at a 270, Polo at a 248, Prophetstown at a 267, and Savanna at a 283. by larryg |
