Morrison Wrestling 2002-2003 Season

The season for the Morrison Wrestlers ended on February 15, with the wrestling sectional meet held in Oregon, Illinois. Morrison sent an impressive 6 wrestlers to the meet but sadly, none of them advanced to the final round. Overall, despite small numbers, the Mustang wrestlers had a very impressive season.

With a dual meet record of 6 wins, 8 losses, and 1 tie, the wrestlers showed just how good they were. In their Home tournament, Morrison placed 3rd out of 8 teams. At the Erie tournament, Morrison placed 6th out of 10 teams, and at the Polo tournament, the Wrestlers placed an impressive 4th out of 12 teams. The last tournament of the regular season was at Clinton, where the Mustang wrestlers placed 15th out of 17 teams, which is impressive knowing that they only had 9 wrestlers present.

In the post season, the wrestlers did very well. At The Regional meet held in Savanna, they placed 5th out of 8 teams and walked away with 6 sectional qualifiers: Ben Vandermyde, Kayle Wegley, Jed Renkes, Andrew Holt, Tom Vanderleest, and Tom Drosopolous. At sectionals Morrison had a strong turnout, but no one was able to advance. Despite a sad ending to the season, Morrison Wrestlers had an excellent season with a conference record of 3 wins and 2 losses, giving them second place in conference. The Morrison wrestlers are coached by Mr. Drosopolous and Mr. Dolan, both Morrison High School teachers.
