Buy a Toy and be a Santa's Helper

Tags cover the tree at Advantage One Credit Union.

Advantage One Credit Union needs the communities help. They need lots of Santa’s Helpers in the Morrison area to take a tag off their giving tree for Morrison Helping Hands. This year they have the more than they ever have had with over 200 tags. Each tag has an age and gender, and persons can either take a family of children or an individual child to buy a toy for.

During the Christmas Walk they are moving the tree to Gallery on Main between 6-8 pm. Tags can be gotten from Robin Green or monetary donations will also being accepted that evening. Otherwise the tree is available at the Credit Union. The wrapped present needs to be returned by December 15. Monetary donations are also being accepted at the Credit Union.

According to Marj Schleuning of Helping Hands they have 68 families and over 180 children to buy for. Some groups buy clothing, others donate scarves and mitten, some donate books and still others just do toys. The families pick up their wrapped packages a week before Christmas when they get their basket from the food pantry. “It’s a great project,” according to Schleuning. “Especially when people pick up the presents and have tears in their eyes.”
