Police Report Items Stolen from Unlocked Cars |

| On 11/27/03, at approximately 9:42 pm, Krista Shoemaker, Morrison, reported that a scanner book had been taken from her unlocked car some time that evening. The theft occurred while Shoemaker’s car was parked in the 400 block of East North Street. On 11/28/03, at approximately 12:15 am, Allen D. Schroeder reported that a checkbook, sunglasses, and scanner had been taken from his unlocked sport utility vehicle some time the previous evening. The theft occurred while the Schroeder vehicle was parked in the 300 block of East High Street. On 11/30/03, at approximately 2:45 am, Morrison Police arrested Nestor S. Mendoza 25, Sterling, on a charge of criminal damage to property. Mendoza was arrested after receiving a complaint from an acquaintance of Mendoza that Mendoza had broken a rear view mirror and windshield on the complainant’s car in the 300 block of East Lincolnway. The incident occurred shortly before Mendoza was charged. Mendoza was subsequently released on a notice to appear in court. Mendoza is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. On 11/30/03, at approximately 4:05 pm, Brenda J. Lumas, Rock Falls, reported that waist-pouch containing cash, had been taken from her unlocked car.
