The Methodist Fellowship Hall will be transformed into a Magnificent Shire Hall for the Madrigal Dinner on December 12 and 13. For an evening of fellowship, wonderful music, and just plain fun get tickets for the 28th production from Morrison High School’s Music Department.
Megan Tenboer, a soprano, and Dana Wolf, a tenor, will host as king and queen of the production. Other players are Sam Nye and Laura Prange (Sopranos); Monique Vos, China Rumfelt, Erica Sanchez, and Andrea Tomasino (Alto); Brad Eissens and Bert Thorndike (Tenors); and Ryan Damhoff, Rustin Lindsey, Dan Deter, and Eli Gravert (Bass).
The group’s conductor and teacher, Darlene Palmer is “so very proud of these kids. They work hard, coming in at 7:15 every morning to practice, and learn an enormous amount of music. They not only learn it, they learn it well. They discuss things with each other, they solve problems, they think about each other’s feelings, but more importantly, they realize that the group and the music they create is important. They are involved in cheerleading, pons, swimming, football, wrestling, basketball, track, quiz bowl, Il Math League, band, softball and baseball, and if I've left something out, it is not because I haven't tried to think of everything. They do all this as well as have part-time jobs, get good grades in school, and participate in service organizations. The only people I know of that are as busy as I am, are the Madrigals. They are an awesome bunch of kids and I don't tell them that near enough.”
The Madrigal Brass players are Doug Vandermyde, Nate Kooi, Merrie Bunt, Ryan Scott, and Andrew Tenboer.
Fourth and Fifth Grade Recorders Group will also be performing. Members are Samantha McCombs, Hannah Coyle, Kelsey Snyder, Zach Champagne, Rachel Hook, Emily Weets, Melissa Davis, Michael Vegter, Alexandria Weets, and Courtney Johnson.
The choir students will be serving dinner.
The dinner and theater begins at 6:30 and the $16 tickets must be ordered and paid in advance by calling 772-4071.
Other performances for the Madrigals will be:
December 2 - Christmas Concert 7:00 pm at the High School Auditorium.
December 4 - Christmas Walk 7:15 at Wells Fargo Bank and 7:45 at the Gazette Office.
December 10 - Methodist Women's Christmas Tea - 1:45
