Senior Pons Performing in Macy's Parade

While watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday keep an eye out for our hometown dancers, Amy Drehmer, Britta Bartels, Megan Goodenough, and Aimee Wagenecht. By going to State all four years for dance, these seniors were invited to dance during the parade with Mike Miller and Associates.

700 girls from all over the United States will be performing with this company. Three of the Morrison girls will be in the front couple rows. Mike Miller and Associates have been inviting senior girls from Morrison to the Macy’s Parade to perform in a cheer group in conjunction with UCA/UDA (Cheerleading and Dance Assoc.).

This year is the first year Morrison has sent girls for the dance troupe. There are only 3 things that have been in every Thanksgiving Day Parade: the Rockettes, Santa Claus, and the Mike Miller and Associates.

The girls are sent their costumes and a tape in advance so they can learn the routine. They left for New York on Saturday and are staying in the NY Hilton. Even though they have a couple "hard" practices each day they get plenty of time to explore. This week the girls visited the World Trade Center site, TRL, and the Statue of Liberty. They shopped at Macy’s and watched a performance of 42nd Street on Broadway.

Thanksgiving Day, they have breakfast at 5:00 am, have a quick rehearsal, and then head to the parade. The parade starts at 9:00 am EST (8:00 am CST). Following the parade they get a short nap and their last visit will be to the Empire State Building. Friday they return home to perform in the New-Mor-Roc-Ster-Valley game.
