Get Set College Planning Guide

I distributed personal copies of "Get Set College Planning Guide" to all junior English classes. This publication is provided free of charge from ACT corporation and is targeted for Illinois students and parents. It features six steps to simplify college planning, ACT test preparation information, college selection strategies, an Illinois college directory, suggested planning resources and activities, and financial aid facts.

Interested students may sign up in the guidance office for an on-line ACT review course offered through Illinois Virtual High School. Call me for details at 772-4071.

Copies of "ACTive Prep" the official electronic guide to the ACT Assessment are available from me for a $20 deposit. The deposit is returned when students turn in the CD-ROM disks.

New additions to the guidance department scholarship binder are as follows: Illinois AMVETS Scholarship Programs, FFA Scholarships, Academic Bowl Scholarship Competitions in music, art, drama, writing, journalism, computers, dance and public speaking, Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation, The National Wild Turkey Federation Conservation Scholarships, Educational Tours Global Citizen Awards, National Defense Transportation Association, Pfizer Epilepsy Scholarship, and Monsanto National Association of Farm Broadcasters Award.

The November/December issues of Careers and College, Knowledge for College, and Next Step magazines are available in the guidance office, library, and at the counselor's cafeteria table.

Students may sign up with me to visit during homeroom with the following representatives coming in December: Indian Hills Community College and Palmer College of Chiropractic.
