Ameritech Scam

The Morrison Police Department has received information that a male individual has called local residents, purporting to be a representative of Ameritech Corporation. The caller advises the resident that Ameritech is soliciting people for employment with Ameritech. The caller then asks the resident where he or she does their banking.

Ameritech Corporation (now owned by SBC Communications) does not solicit applicants by telephone. If you receive one of these calls, do not provide them with any personal information, such as social security numbers, bank account numbers, or credit card number. A preliminary inquiry has revealed that these calls are coming from outside the 815 area code.
