IDOT Addresses Morrison City Council

U.S. 30 will remain 2-lanes through most of Morrison. Tree removal wil be practically nothing.

The proposed three lanes on U.S. 30 are back down to two. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) addressed Monday’s Morrison City Council. They showed the Council their revised highway plan in which the residential area will stay 2-lane but will be three feet wider to adequately drain water off the roadway. The center turn lanes will still be added at both business ends of Morrison. The tree removal along U.S. 30 will be “practically nothing”.

They also announced the removal of the stop light on Garden Plain Road intersection but they are still adding a third turn lane at that intersection.

IDOT said the community members representing Morrison were “good to work with” and they brought information to them that IDOT did not have that helped them make the decision. The community group also felt IDOT was good to work with and were very happy with the changes. Bob Bees of the community group still plans to have another informational meeting with the community at a later date.

The major parts of the plan are now set and IDOT will have time to concentrate on the details of individual property owners.
