2003 Halloween Parade |
|
| There was an alien abduction in Morrison last weekend, and there were lots of Batmans, Supermans, Clowns, and Football Players too. They were all a part of the Morrison Halloween Parade October 25. Cottonwood 4-H Club members and Morrison Chamber of Commerce worked together to give bags of candy to the participants and prizes to the winners. A record 118 bags of candy were handy out and the costumed kids kept coming. At 1:30 the judging was over and the Morrison Police Department led the mass of parents and costumes to the Post Office to hear the announcement of who the judges thought had the best costumes on. A Morrison Fire Department engine followed the traveling parade down Main Street. Three winners received prizes donated by generous Morrison businesses in each age category. Zero to three-year-old winners were Ethan Garcia, Emily & Anna Szabo, and Peyton & Tyson Smith. Honorable mention winners in each category received a skeleton Beanie Baby donated by Lincoln Highway Gifts. Those winners were Riley Hudson, Shana Hudson, and Logan Petkus. Winners in the four to seven age group were Adam Deter, Seth Peterson, and Tyson Anderson. Honorable Mention went to Danika Habben, Alissa Willis, and Hunter Hamstra. Eight to twelve winners were Jeramie House, Hannah Coyle, and Brooke Elliott. Honorable mention winners were Michael Given, Elizabeth Bos, and Daniel Jackson. After the parade, parents and kids were entertained at Arnie’s Spookhouse, a kid friendly activity. Thank you to all the businesses that donated prizes: Dairy Queen, Wilson Greenhouse, Wells Fargo Bank, Briar Patch, Movie Magic, Casa Gomez, Hardees, Lincoln Highway Gifts, TheCity1.com, Whiteside County 4-H, and Dr. Simpson, DDS. Candy and bags were donated by : Super Wash, Fitzerald Pharmacy, Sullivan Foods, Wells Fargo Bank, Community State Bank, Metro Bank, Sterling Federal Bank, Advantage One Credit Union, Morrison Federal Credit Union, and Kophamer Realty. Also a big thank-you goes to Arnie and Mitch Drolema for opening the spook house for the kids, the Morrison Fire and Police Department and the judges.
