Cottonwood 4-H Club shared their love of animals with the Skilled Care residents at Morrison Community Hospital on Saturday, October 18. Each of the members brought a pet or two to show the residents. The senior citizens enjoy this immensely. They talked about the pets they had and ask the members about their pets. Pet therapy is a very important activity for the club to share with the residents because both groups enjoy it.

Member, Kayla VenHuizen, planned the visit and brought her dog Annie. Other members, Katie Kenseth, Jennifer Thorndike, Nolan Hinrichs, Bobby and Kendall Deter, Stephen and Rebecca Head, Jacklyn Hanson, and Ashley Noble brought their dogs, cats and rabbits.

This year’s club theme for Cottonwood is “Animals” and they are planning more activities around the theme. Earlier in the month the club visited WHOA Therapeutic Stables and were given a demonstration from (4-H member) Kayla VenHuizen on what she does when she volunteers at WHOA. In the future the club plans on raising money for Happy Tails Animal Shelter by making animal treats and other gift items for Christmas. They are also planning a fundraiser for WHOA for next year.
