It's a small world here in Morrison

Our world is pretty small here in Morrison. We spend most of our time here in town, once a week we travel to Sterling or Clinton to do a little shopping, and a few times per month we might travel to the Quad Cities to do more shopping. A few times a year some of us venture a little further to Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, or some other midwestern town or city. Then if we’re lucky we take a vacation and travel a little further.

I love to travel. It’s my passion. Most of the time I work just to travel. I’ve traveled to most of the 50 states. Oregon is the only state west of the Mississippi I have not visited and there are quite a few of the northeastern states I have yet to visit but I think I’ve seen most of the country.

Since I started working at TheCity1, I have changed my focus. I started watching the little things that happen around town. At first it was to fill my time, put something on the web site, and show what’s happening in Morrison.

Then I received an email from an old friend here in Morrison. His view is out his living room window. He is confined to a wheel chair and attached to machines to help him breath. He sent me a note thanking me for the pictures on the web site. He can’t ride around town everyday to see what has changed so he’s watching the world on TheCity1.com.

Another group that watches is the former Morrison residents (like my brother-in-law) that only spent their first 18-19 years in Morrison, but still thinks of it as their hometown. They check in daily to watch the Featured Photo and Top Story and I started thinking about the idea that people are viewing Morrison through my eyes. It changed my perspective a little. Besides covering news, I try to put up a new photo every few days and think about what I’d like to see if I couldn’t leave my home. Keep watching Rudy.
