Police Investigate Burglaries |

| On 09/01/03, at approximately 7:30 am, Morrison Police investigated a burglary at Sunset Woods Golf Course and Country Club. Individuals gained access to the building, breaking three windows. Nothing appeared to have been taken. The burglary occurred some time the previous night. On 09/02/03, at approximately 11:00 am, Morrison Police investigated a two-car crash at the intersection of East Lincolnway and North Madison Street. A car driven by Joan L. Helberger, 65, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, was stopped at the traffic light facing west. A second car, driven by Abby R. Lucas, 18, Sterling, Illinois, struck the rear on the Helberger car. Lucas was treated at the scene for minor injuries by paramedics from Community General Hospital. Both vehicles received damage in excess of $500. There were no citations issued as a result of the crash. On 09/03/03, at approximately 11:05 am, Morrison Police investigated a burglary to a motor vehicle parked at an auto repair shop at 15293 Bishop Road. The car, owned by Jason A. Akker, 18, Morrison, had a stereo removed. The burglary occurred some time over the past month. On 09/03/03, at approximately 10:45 pm, Morrison Police responded to a burglar alarm at Schuler Motors. Upon arrival, officers found that a window on an overhead door had been breached. Nothing had been taken. While responding to the alarm, police received a call from a Whiteside County Juvenile Court Services Officer that a suspicious person was checking doors and windows at Chuck Lindsay Chevrolet. The suspect fled prior to the arrival of the police. The building was not entered. Morrison Police are working with investigators of the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office and Geneseo Police Department in regard to similar car dealership burglaries in their area. by Editor, theCity1.com |
