Morrison Police Report

The Morrison Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred in Morrison on the afternoon of August 21. Two white males, possibly in their 20’s, gained access to the residence of an elderly person to sell home improvement services. Both suspects had what the victim described as southern accents. While one of the males talked to the victim, the second male took cash and prescription drugs. There is no vehicle description available at this time.

Residents are asked to call the Police Department at 772-7659 if they encounter anyone fitting this description and selling home improvement services.

On 08/22/03, at approximately 7:55 a.m., Morrison Police investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 600 block of Genesee Avenue. A car driven by Blair A. Wolf, 16, Belvidere, Illinois, backed from a parking stall when the Wolf vehicle struck a northbound pick-up driven by Michel J. Wiersema, 35, Morrison. There were no injuries as a result of the collision. Both vehicles received in excess of $500 damage. Wolf was cited for improper backing. Wolf is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 08/22/03, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Morrison Police investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 600 block of Genesee Avenue. A van driven by Robert L. Vegter, 54, Morrison, was slowing for traffic when a carryall, driven by Stacy E. Belha, 16, Morrison, struck the rear of the Vegter van. There were no injuries as a result of the collision. Both vehicles received in excess of $500 damage. Belha was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Belha is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
