WAAExteriorLoft 112, the new art gallery at 112 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL, is pleased to announce its partnership with Woodlawn Arts Academy, 3807 Woodlawn Road, Sterling, IL.

Starting Monday, April 2, Woodlawn will host a variety of art and music lessons for all ages.  To secure your place, register at least a week in advance.  Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

VISUAL ARTS FOR KIDS, six-week sessions

PRESCHOOL PICASSOS FOR AGES 3-5, Visual Arts Curriculum Level 1, Tuition:  $35.50

Explore, experiment, and create using a variety of mediums.

Mondays, 4:00 to 4:45 p.m., April 9 through May 14

Instructor:  Jennifer Wolf

MESSY MATISSES FOR AGES 6-9, Visual Arts Curriculum Level 2, Tuition:  $46

Learn and explore through different mediums.  Young Artists will be introduced to a range of artists and create a variety of pieces in different styles of art.

Mondays, 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., April 9 through May 14

DABBLING DEGAS FOR AGES 10-14, Visual Arts Curriculum Level 3, Tuition:  $56.50

Work with the elements of art and the principles of design.  A variety of materials will be explored for inspiration from various artists to create your own pieces.

ADULT ART WORKSHOPS

CLASS WITH GLASS FOR AGES 21+, Tuition: $40, (Maximum 10 students per class)

Adult Glass Jewelry Workshop with Dana McCoy–Feel free to bring wine.  Fusion Glass Jewelry Class at Loft 112 makes for a special girls’ night out of creativity and fun.  New to warm glass, dichroic glass, or glass work in general?  Don’t worry; you’ve come to the right spot.  Warm glass is a technique where cut glass is arranged, layered, and placed in a kiln while cold.  It is then fired to melt and form into different shapes, colors, and textures achieved by a variety of techniques.  Everything will be provided to create a beautiful dichroic glass jewelry pendant or cabachon.  Pieces will be fired later and ready for pickup in about a week.

Tuesdays, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., pick from April 10 or April 24

Instructor:  Dana McCoy

GUIDED OIL PAINTING FOR AGES 18+, Tuition:  $38 (Minimum 5 students/Maximum 10 students)

Create a fabulous canvas painting with no experience necessary.  Receive step-by-step instructions with color-mixing and painting tips in a relaxing, stress-free environment.  All supplies will be provided for this class and are included in the tuition price.  Please wear worry-free clothing.  No refunds can be given on this class.

ONE-ON-ONE MUSIC LESSONS

VOCAL MUSIC FOR AGES 13-ADULT, 8-week session of half-hour lessons, Tuition:  $148

Kathy Janicek has worked with private students in her home, while teaching choral music in the public schools and at the college level.  She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Augustana College and a Master of Music degree from the University of Illinois . She retired from the Erie School District in 2008, after teaching choral music for 18 years.  Prior to teaching at Erie, Janiek taught at Augustana College for nine years and in several area school districts.

Tuesdays, 3:30 to 7:00 p.m., April 3 to May 22

BRASS AND WOODWINDS FOR AGES 9-ADULT, 8-week session of half-hour lessons, Tuition:  $148   

Mike McCoy holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Illinois Wesleyan University.  He has been a public school educator for 32 years, the past 29 of those with Sterling Public Schools, as the Sterling High School Band Director.  He lives in Morrison and is a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, where he is a frequent performer on trumpet.
 
Thursdays, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., April 5 to May 24
