shirley kierShirley N. Kier, 83, of Pleasant View Nursing & Rehabilitation, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, January 4, 2014, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL.

Shirley was born July 13, 1930, in Perry, OH, to Sheridan A. and Edia M. (Fogle) Simmons.  She was educated in the Perry Grade and High Schools in Perry.  Shirley married Joseph Veselko in 1947 in Mentor, OH.  She later married Elvin N. Kier on March 29, 1959, in Perry.  He died April 21, 1994.  Shirley was first employed as a waitress at various restaurants in both Ohio and locally.  She later worked at General Electric in Morrison until retirement.  Shirley was a member of the Baptist Church in Perry and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Fulton Chapter and the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Roger) Tucker of Fulton, IL; one son, Joseph “Joe” Veselko of Morrison; five grandchildren, Danelle (Larry) McNeece, Troy (Joyce) Tucker, Janae (Tony Meiers) Veselko, Andrea (Jeremy) Wagner, and Joey Veselko; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Schlee of Madison, OH, and Beverly of OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elvin; two sisters and four brothers.

THERE WILL BE NO VISITATION OR FUNERAL SERVICE.

CREMATION RITES HAVE BEEN ACCORDED.

INTERMENT OF CREMATED REMAINS:  Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, TN, at a later date

The Fulton Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In her memory, memorials may be sent to Pleasant View Nursing Home, 500 N. Jackson Street, Morrison, IL 61270 .
