Shirley H. Nice, 81, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, January 11, 2016, peacefully with her family at her side at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Shirley was born October 17, 1934, in Clinton, IA, to Eddie G. and Henrietta A. (Wilke) Enwright. She was educated in the Elvira, and Clinton, IA, grade schools and was a 1952 graduate of Clinton High School. On December 13, 1953, she married Elwyn W. Nice in Clinton, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Shirley was a devoted mother to her four children and grandmother to her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Shirley always put her family first. Shirley was a major support in the success of the family farming business, for over 20 years alongside her husband. She was also the administrative backbone and support for the Nice Trucking business for 30 years.
Shirley was a devout Christian and member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison. She enjoyed raising her children and being a part of their lives, along with shopping, shopping, and shopping; knitting; flower gardening; being outdoors; eating out; reading; Christian Worship; organizing and preparing family celebrations.
Survivors include her husband, Elwyn; three daughters, Linda (Tim) McClung of Beaumont, TX, Pamela Nice of Las Vegas, NV, and Judy (Jeff) Meinsma of Morrison; one son, William “Bill” (Patti) Nice of Boise, ID; seven grandchildren, Erin McClung and Nicole (fiance Michael Wiesner) McClung, Elizabeth (Jon) McKenzie and Jason (Cathy) Meinsma, Emily (Josh) Miller, Chad Nice and Ben (Leslie) Nice; four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jonah, and Drew Miller; Jameson McKenzie; one sister, Mrs. Ione Beck of Benton, IL; two brothers, Don (Marilyn) Enwright of Clinton and Dean (Beverly) Enwright of Portland, OR; one sister-in-law, Margie (Bob) Traum of Milledgeville, IL; one daughter-in-law, Patti Nice of Sterling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, L. D. (Marion) Enwright and Gene (Thelma) Enwright.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 15, 2016, at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, IL, with Rev. Rich Davis, Pastor of Emmanuel Reformed Church, officiating.
There will be a memorial visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established by the family to Emmanuel Reformed Church and CGH Medical Center.
