Shirley A. Mills, 81, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Homestead of Morrison.
Shirley was born August 2, 1941, in Clinton, IA, to August and Rosa (Peters) Christiansen. She attended the Miles, IA ,grade schools and was a graduate of Miles High School. After High School, Shirley furthered her education and received an Associate’s Degree from Mount St. Clare College in Clinton. On December 15, 1963, she married Kenneth R. Mills in Miles. She worked for Prudential Insurance in Clinton, and later was employed by Smith Trust and Savings/Marquette Bank in Morrison for 26 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, and was a former member of First Presbyterian Churches in both Mile,s and Clinton, IA. Shirley enjoyed spending her free time reading and shopping.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; daughters, Lori (Mike) Lee of Prophetstown, IL, and Kimberly (Rick) Martin of Storm Lake, IA; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Christiansen of Miles.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kara Lee Mills; son, Kurt Mills; brother, Delbert Christiansen.
Her Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, IL, officiated by Rev. Dr. James Camp.
A Visitation will be held the same day prior to the service, starting at 9:30 a.m.
A Luncheon will be served immediately following the service.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
A memorial to the Alzheimer’s Association has been established.
