Kristopher Schmidt, a Republican candidate for Whiteside County Sheriff, kicks off the month of September with a “Block Party” campaign event at King Pins, 18675 13th Street, Fulton, IL, on Saturday, September 2, 2017.
Citizens for Schmidt, the candidate’s campaign committee, will host the gathering from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Featuring hamburgers and hot dogs and a bounce house and slide for kids, the event is free and open to the public.
“Start your Labor Day weekend in Fulton at our block party, with some free food and children’s games,” Schmidt said.
The committee has planned a series of events, to allow voters to meet the candidate and hear his views on issues facing the County and the Sheriff’s office.
In September, those Illinois events and candidate appearances include:
7 –Meet and Greet, Masonic Lodge in Fulton, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
9 – Taste of Fiesta Event, Sterling, noon to 6:00 p.m.
16 – Harvest Hammer and Paint the Town, Morrison, and the Fiesta Day Parade, Sterling/Rock Falls
24 – Community Family Fun Day, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Resthave Home, Morrison
28 – Albany Lion’s Club Meeting, 7:00 p.m.
30 – Block Party at Logan Park, East Rock Falls Road, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
30 – Chili Cook-Off, Arts on the Square, Concert in the Park, Prophetstown.

ABOUT KRIS SCHMIDT
Kris graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1990 and joined the Air Force, being honorably discharged in 1995. He worked for the DeWitt (Iowa) Police Department, beginning as a patrolman and was quickly promoted to Sergeant in charge of patrol. In 2001, he joined the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, where he was assigned to patrol and was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2009. While working at the Sheriff’s Office, he has had many accomplishments, including earning his bachelor of arts business degree in organization management, with distinction, and a minor in criminal justice and receiving many awards for his dedicated service to Whiteside County.
He and his wife, Sarah, and have a blended family of six children and live on a small farm just outside of Morrison.
