Charges listed below are accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On 9/7/16 at about 10:15 a.m., Whiteside County Deputies responded to a single semi-tractor trailer crash at the intersection of W. Lincolnway and Emerson Roads.
Investigation revealed a 2006 Kenworth driven by Steven T. Portner, 64, of Sterling, IL, was traveling eastbound and lost control on the wet pavement. The semi skidded into the south ditch, colliding with a utility pole.
Portner refused medical attention on scene.
Portner was issued a citation for Driving Too Fast for Conditions. He was released with a promise to comply.
Assisting Deputies were the Illinois State Police, Sterling Police and Fire, IDOT, Inces Towing, and Slim-N-Hank’s Towing.
