September 29 Flag Burning Ceremony at 12:30 p.m.

On the last Sunday of September each year, The America Legion Post 328 in Morrison, IL, conducts our Flag Retirement Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park.  Flags that have been deposited into our Flag Drop Box (306 E. Main Street) throughout the year are burned, pursuant to United States Flag Code and Resolution 440 of the 19th National Legion Convention.  Our ceremony is very impressive and fitting, for United States Flags that have performed their duty and are no longer serviceable.  In 2023, we burned 508 flags.

Flags are also accepted on the day of the ceremony, as long as we receive them before the start of the ceremony.  All types of flags (POW/MIA, Illinois, United States, etc.) are accepted.  Everyone is invited to attend the short but impressive ceremony.  Lawn chairs are encouraged.

New, United States-made U. S. flags will be available for purchase at $25 for a 3’ x 5′ nylon flag.
