Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, has a unique, new magazine subscription with a Morrison connection. Sammy Dalati, a graduate of Morrison High School, is the Senior Editor of The Magazine ANTIQUES. He does fact checking, editing, and writing and also edits the magazine’s podcast, “Curious Objects.”
The bi-monthly arts publication’s title includes the word Antiques, but that can be “a little misleading,” says Dalati. The periodical actually focuses on many styles of architecture, interior design, and fine and decorative arts, giving these ‘antiques’ historical context.
Dalati began his career at ANTIQUES assisting the magazine with an office move, but diligently worked his way to Senior Editor in the spring of 2019. The Magazine ANTIQUES, based in Manhattan, NY, will celebrate 100 years of publication. It has a loyal readership of more than 80,000.
Sammy Dalati is the son of Sarah Bull of Morrison and Maher Dalati of Chicago, IL. He was graduated from Morrison High School in 2011 and earned a degree in Studio Art from New York University (NYU) in 2015. While at NYU, he studied a little bit of everything in the art world. He was particularly involved in performance, photography, and videography.
Dalati typically resides in New York, but has been working from his mother’s home in Morrison since June 2020, after COVID-19 shut down much of the city.
