Senior Arts Afternoon Becomes Monthly Event

Recently, Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community, 403 Scenic Street, Morrison, IL, hosted an “Afternoon of Arts for Seniors” on Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  A dozen participants each completed an acrylic painting under the direction of Jan Wollam, Morrison.  All materials were furnished by Windsor Manor.

Shown seated in front are residents Lorraine Workman, left, and Deanie Damhoff.  Standing are members of the community who also enjoyed the class.

Adding to the “very relaxing” afternoon were appetizers, wine, and soothing music.  Executive Director Danielle Vance stated, “We had such a great turnout that we are going to be doing this monthly.”  Upcoming no-cost artistry opportunities will be held the last Thursday of the month from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Vance reported increased interest after the first Afternoon of Arts for Seniors.  Resident participation has doubled, to four, and community attendance is 20.  The second session, Thursday, May 28, is already filled.  Shelby McBride will guide attendees step-by-step to “make a super-cute sunflower wreath.”

The third session is Thursday, June 25.
