The Whiteside Forum, established in 1985, is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit community group which sponsors presentations and discussions of issues of importance and interest to the public. Issues chosen for conferences have an international dimension as well as local interest and importance. The organization is supported entirely by individual, special and business contributions and all events are free and open to the publicUpcoming 2018 The Whiteside Forum events will be on Thursday evenings, in the Program Room, at Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL. The public is encouraged to attend these informative programs and discussions. There is no charge.
January 25: “All Politics is Local” with Everett Pannier, Mayor of Morrison, IL, Barry Dykhuizen, City Manager of Morrison, IL, and Bill Wescott, Mayor of Rock Falls, IL.
February 22: “Genocide, Rebellion, and God in Nazi Germany” with Matthew Coomber, Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at St. Ambrose University.
March 22: “Nationalism vs. Globalism: the New Political Divide” a TED talk by Yuval Noah Harari, Author, Historian. A one-hour video will be followed by discussion.
April 26: “International Politics: U. S. Foreign Policy in Action” with Leif Kindberg, Environment and Natural Resource Associate at Tetra Tech (serving USAID projects.)
