Ruth Ann Tervelt, 97, of Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Ruth Ann was born August 8, 1922, in Morrison, to Claus and Celia (VanDyke) Vogel. She was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1941 graduate of Morrison High School. Ruth Ann married Harold M. Tervelt on March 17, 1944, in Morrison. He died December 31, 1988. She was employed at Goodenough’s Ice Box in her younger years and was a homemaker. Ruth Ann was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, where she sang in the church’s choir. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, antiquing, and her trip to the Netherlands to visit the home of her ancestors.
Survivors include her beloved friend and cousin, Alice “Sis” Bordner of Morrison; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, John Tervelt; sisters, Cora Maring, Gertrude Vander Bleek, and Janna DeVries-Lennon; brother, James Vogel.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2019, at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., at Fenton Cemetery in Fenton, IL. Rev. Marv Jacobs, Interim Pastor, will be officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
A memorial to Ebenezer Reformed Church has been established.
