Ruth A. Schroeder, 85, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Pleasant View Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Morrison.
Ruth was born April 11, 1934, in Morrison, to Louis H. and Jennie (Temple) Buikema. She was educated in the Green Valley School of rural Whiteside County and was a 1952 graduate of Morrison High School. Ruth married Harvey L. Schroeder on June 10, 1955, in Morrison. He died May 25, 2018. She was first employed as an operator at the Morrison Telephone Company and later by General Electric in Morrison. Ruth was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and the church’s Ladies Aid Society. She was also a member of the Whiteside County Snowbirds Snowmobile Club and served as Treasurer for several years. Ruth enjoyed snowmobiling in northern Wisconsin. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and embroidery.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Denise Schroeder of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Nicole (Daniel) Rose of Knoxville and Adam Schroeder of Fulton, IL; one great-grandson, Elliott Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey; two sons, Allen and Dennis Schroeder.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, preceded by visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Ken Renkes will officiate.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
Memorials have been established to Ebenezer Reformed Church or Pleasant View Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
