Rudolph R. Paulsen, age 97 of Morrison, IL, died on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison.
Rudolph was born on November 2, 1917, in Grand Mound, IA, to John and Wilhemena (Mecklinburg) Paulsen. He was the youngest of eight children–four boys and four girls. Rudolph served in the United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. After the war, he worked for many years at John Deere Harvester in East Moline, IL. After retiring, he farmed for several years. He was the past president of Moline FOE #1012 and a member of the Moose Lodge in Clinton, IA.
Survivors include his son, Stephen (Geraldine) Paulsen of Beavercreek, OH; two grandchildren, Scott (Julie) Paulsen of Wichita, KS, and Stacey Hermiston of Durant, IA; four great-grandchildren, Aleece and Lindsey Paulsen of Wichita, Zachary Hermiston and SeAnne Houghton of Durant, and his companion of many years, Joyce Dickinson of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 8, 2014, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Andy Ploenzke officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Mercy Hospice in Clinton, IA, and the American Heart Association.
