Rotary Funds Junior High Books

Posted by

For the 2018-2019 school year, Morrison Junior High, 300 Academic Drive, Morrison, IL, purchased over 40 supplemental books to enrich student learning.  Thanks to repeat generosity of Morrison Rotary Club, the school will reimbursed for their cost.  On Thursday, January 10, 2019, Rotary Literacy Committee Chair Ellen Smith said the organization would mail a check for $500 to Principal Joe Robbins.

On Monday, November 6, 2017, the Morrison Rotary Club made a $500 donation to Morrison Junior High School.  That money was used to purchase classroom novels, that are needed with the Junior High’s new English Language Arts curriculum.  “We were able to purchase two different novel sets for 6th grade through 8th grade students,” reported Principal Joe Robbins at the time.

Also on Thursday, January 10, Robbins stated, “We purchased about 45 books that go with the ER curriculum” including the novels.  They are Informational Texts and Historical Fiction.”

He illustrated how the two kinds of materials interconnect.  “The eighth graders are studying To Kill a Mockingbird.  So, we ordered books on Civil Rights.”
