Ronald Jay Medenblik, 69, of Fulton, IL, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 19, 2015.
Ronald “Dutch” was born November 7, 1945, in Driesum, Friesland, the Netherlands, to Julius T. and Eleonora (DeVries) Medenblik. The family immigrated to the United States in 1949 when he was three years old. He was educated in the Fulton schools. Ronald was drafted into the U.S . Army in November of 1965. He served his Country for two years. He worked as a lineman in the Army, where he learned the skill of telephone line repair. Ronald married Evelyn Witteveen on May 17, 1968, in Holland, MI. Later that year he took his skill from the Army and started working for Illinois Bell. After 37 years he retired as an Infrastructure Maintenance Technician. Ronald’s greatest love was attending his grandkids’ sporting events and traveling with his wife. His spare time was spent outdoors and working in his garage. After a brief retirement, Ronald started working part-time for Skatetime, delivering roller skates to area schools. He worked there for seven years and loved driving to different schools. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church of Fulton, where he served as a deacon and treasurer.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and their four children, Russel (Angela) Medenblik of Muskego, WI, Keith (Jacqueline) Medenblik of Broken Arrow, OK, Kevin (Jennifer) Medenblik of Morrison, and Ronda (Frederick) Phillips, Jr. of Clinton, IA. Also surviving are five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy (John) Salverda of Fulton, Edith (Dale) Schaver of Fulton, and Iola Newendyke of New Boston, MO; two brothers, Lambert (Martha) Medenblik of Rock Hill, SC, and William (Mary) Medenblik of Fulton; a sister-in-law, Hilda Medenblik.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Charles, Garrett, Auke, Lambertus, and Romke; a brother-in-law, Elwyn Newendyke.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
