Ronald E. Zuidema, 81, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, May 21, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
Ron was born June 13, 1939, in Morrison to Glenn N. and Grace (Norman) Zuidema. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools of Union Grove and Prairie Center, and was a graduate of Morrison High School. On May 14, 1960, he married Patricia Ann Knox in Morrison; she died on May 25, 1990. He then married Jean Skyles in January of 1992 in Clinton, IA. Ron was employed by General Electric Co. in Morrison for 25 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Morrison Fire Department for 25 years, and he was a Mason with the Morrison Dunlap Lodge #321 AF & AM. Ron enjoyed fishing and golfing, and he was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; daughter, Mary (Clair) Covell of Morrison; son, Vincent (Sheila) Zuidema of Morrison; twin step-daughters, Sherrie (Steve) Kopp of Daytona Beach, FL, and Terrie (John) Petersen of Bryant, IA; step-son, Randy (Deb) Weller of Camanche, IA; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat (Lyle) Stoecker of Morrison; brother, James G. (Trudy) Zuidema of Bettendorf, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark “Woody” Woodward; grandson, Dylan Zuidema; brother, Gerald Zuidema.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
There will be a Graveside Service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL, with Ken Renkes officiating.
There will be no Visitation.
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established by the family.
