Ronald Dean Roselieb (1936 – 2024)

Ronald Dean Roselieb, 88, of Hooppole, IL, died Friday, December 13, 2024, at Allure of Prophetstown, IL.

Ron was born at home to William A. and Flossie (Egert) Roselieb, in Portland Township, during the blizzard of February 7, 1936.  He was a graduate of Geneseo High School.  On March 28, 1956, he married Shirley M. Oleson in the Hooppole Calvary Church parsonage.  Ron worked at Eclipse Lawn Mower Manufacturing. in Prophetstown, which later became Penberthy Manufacturing in 1955.  He retired in 1999, after 44 years of employment there.  Ron was the Hooppole “Town Cop” and also served on the Hooppole Fire Department.  He loved carpentry work and rebuilt his home in Hooppole from the ground up.  He built his family cabin along the river where they enjoyed spending their summers together.  Ron would help build things for local businesses in need, and enjoyed building bird houses for his friends and family.  Ron loved his family and especially cherished all of his grandchildren, who fondly referred to him as Grandpa Hoop.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Shirley; daughters, Lisa (Ted) Brants of Hooppole and Rhonda (Robert) Bohms of Morrison, IL; son, Rusty (Deb) Roselieb of Prophetstown; nine grandchildren, Jonathan (Molly Sissell) Brants, Jacob (Kelly) Brants, Nichole (Wesley) Lind; Ryan (Alyssa) Bohms, Amber (Eric) Hinrichsen; Joseph (Ketra) Roselieb, Jessica (Scott) Wirsing; Mike (Sara) Thompson, and Jason Roselieb; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Roselieb of Prophetstown; brother-in-law, Ronald Buck” Oleson of Prophetstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Audie (Debra) Roselieb; sisters, Sharon Oleson and Joyce (Eugene) Anderson; sisters-in-law, Jackie Roselieb and Lorraine (Roger) Massey; brother-in-law, Carlyle (Francis) Oleson.

His Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL, officiated by Rev. Terry Lancaster.

A Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Hooppole Cemetery, Hooppole, IL, at a later date.

Memorials have been established for the Prophetstown Ambulance and the Hooppole Fire Department.
