ronald dykstraRonald Dean Dykstra, 76, of Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison.

Ron was born June 7, 1943, in Morrison, to Roy S. and Helen M. (Rogers) Dykstra.  He was educated in the Robertson Grade School and was a graduate of Morrison High School.  On October 25, 1963, he married Nancy L. Deelsnyder in Fulton.  She died April 22, 2014.  Ron was first employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad car shops.  He then farmed in the Morrison, Prophetstown, IL, and Thomson, IL areas.  Following that, he worked as a farm hand in the Morrison and Walnut, IL, areas, and also at IPSCO in Camanche, IA.  Most recently he worked winters for the Illinois Department of Transportation and summers for Determann Asphalt, before retiring.  Ron was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton.  He had memberships with the Carroll County Farm Bureau, the Illinois Beef Association, the Whiteside Cattlemen’s Association, and the National Cattlemen’s Association.  Ron enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing.

Survivors include daughters, Jennifer (Steve) Farrell of Ohio, IL, and Carol (Kevin) Dornbush of Dubuque, IA; sons, Dan (Tina) Dykstra of Morrison and Mike (Michelle) Dykstra of Walnut, IL; ten grandchildren, Heather (Eddie) Luckritz, Brittany (Ben Meiter) Dykstra, Ryan Dykstra, Nick (Paige) Dykstra, Stacy (Adam) Sobottka, Dylan Dykstra, Karlee Dykstra, Eric (Avery) Farrell, Stephenny Farrell, Elizabeth Dornbush; nine great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Cloe, and Tegan Luckritz, Aleeya Dykstra, Charlotte Meiter, Chayse and Cayle Ioder, Layne Sobottka, and Anders Farrell; sisters, Bonnie (Don) Reed of Morrison and Lori (Darryl) Appel of Thomson; brother, Steve (Judi) Dykstra of Thomson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; grandson, Kevin Farrell; brother, Paul Dykstra.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers that have given their considerate attention to both Ronald and Nancy over the years.

There will be a private family funeral service at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Ken Renkes.

Interment will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.

A memorial has been established.
