Ron J. Decker, 73, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, June 4, 2023, at his home.
Ron was born October 24, 1949, in Morrison, to Alfred and Alice B. (Wilkens) Decker. He was educated in the Morrison Schools and was a 1967 graduate of Morrison High School. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Ron married the mother of his children Jean VanDusen; they later divorced. On March 20, 1992, he married Toni Dauphin in Sterling, IL. Ron was first employed by GE in Morrison and then at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling, IL. Lastly, he worked at 3M in Cordova, IL, retiring in 2012. Ron enjoyed spending his time wood working and fishing. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and, also, a classic car enthusiast. He would purchase and restore the cars and show them in classic car shows.
Survivors include his wife, Toni; daughter, Carie (Billy) Ibrahim of Scottsdale, AZ; sons, Ryan Decker and Jeremy Decker, both of Morrison; stepdaughter, Cristy Dauphin of Eldridge, IA; stepsons, Andrew (Melissa) Dauphin of Savanna, IL, and Timothy (Jamie) Dauphin of Morrison; eight grandchildren, Maya and Theron, Jett, Jacob and Maddie, Riley, Thomas, and Olivia; sister, Sharon (Ken) Kokott of Sterling; brothers, Keith (Susan) Decker of Dayton, FL, Roger (Marilyn) Decker of Pensacola, FL, Jeffrey (Connie) Decker of Fulton, IL, Joel (Brenda) Decker of Mt. Olive, IL, and Robert (Jody) Decker of Orlando, FL.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the Visitation.
Interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL, at a later date.
A memorial has been established.
