Roland “Rollie” J. Vanzuiden, 90, of Morrison, IL, passed away peacefully at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation, in Morrison on Saturday, October 9, 2021, surrounded by family.
Rollie, a twin to brother Jay, was born April 2, 1931, in Newton Township to Henry and Maggie (VanOosten) VanZuiden. Rollie was educated at the Garden Plain School but finished and graduated from 8th grade in Mt. Carroll, IL. He married Ramona M. Holesinger on October 26, 1951, in Morrison. They lived in the Mt. Carroll area and then moved to Morrison. Rollie had multiple jobs over his lifetime, but his true passion was driving truck. He was a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed his family, taking many trips with his wife, playing cards with friends, visiting with farmers, breakfast at KJ’s with the guys, and water balloon fights at the yearly family gathering, on the 4th of July.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona; daughters, Cheryl (Hank) Batterink of Wyoming, Ontario, Canada, and Robin (Jeff) Brands of Morrison; sons, Henry (Deb) VanZuiden of Sun City West, AZ, and Keith (Jen) VanZuiden of Maricopa, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Jay VanZuiden of Mesa, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandchild.
Funeral Services for Roland VanZuiden will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, October 15, 2021, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
Memorials have been established to Resthave Care & Rehabilitation and Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community.
